Yes. Free is for one person: the calendar owner. The calendar stays private until you choose Family and share it.

Do invited calendar members pay?

No. Only the calendar owner pays for Family. Invited calendar members pay nothing.

How does upgrading to Family and managing the subscription work?

Family keeps every calendar feature and adds collaboration, flexible permissions, and up to 10 calendars. The owner can manage billing, invoices, payment methods, and cancellation from Stripe's secure portal.
